SmartLogon™ at medical monitors
The medical hardware specialist ACL, based in Markkleeberg, Saxony, also installs RFID readers in its All-In-One PCs for its customers. Time and again, ACL has been asked by interested parties what the readers are used for and which specific applications they serve. Naturally, ACL had an answer to this. However, we decided to improve on this answer: “You can save a lot of money in the form of working time with this and the SmartLogon™ solution from digitronic. Simply provide tokens and you can start working immediately without having to enter passwords.”
We have specially modified SmartLogon™ so that ACL can provide this feature in exactly the same way. Until now, tokens had to be permanently “connected” to the PC, otherwise the user was typically logged out. We have introduced a so-called flip-flop functionality for ACL. The token now only needs to be presented to the PC once, after which all relevant applications start, are automatically authenticated and you can start working. The token can now be safely put back in your pocket. If you want to log out of all applications again, all you have to do is present the token again. Why was this so important? Monitors with touch displays that are installed on or even in a wall would otherwise have required an unsightly and impractical token holder. We are glad that we can offer the alternative FlipFlop functionality for user convenience.
We would like to thank Paul Fiedler for making this cooperation possible and for introducing us to both the production and the premises directly on site. As a first small project, ACL has equipped a demo PC with our software and is showing it at trade fairs, most recently at DMEA 2023 in Berlin. In practice, our team is currently proving its worth in a hospital that relies on ACL’s visit trolleys and SmartLogon™ from digitronic.
